Art quilt

I was inspired to create this piece after hearing the captivating voices of the African American quilting group Gee’s Bend sing gospel while making quilts during a quilting convention. Following their tradition, I used only the fabrics I had in my hands and added no others. When I ran out of striped fabric, I made my own. And like Gee’s Bend, I avoided any preconceived idea of an end design, other than a quilt to keep you warm.
